The first edition of Granfondo Suisse with start close to the UCI headquarters and finish on top of Col de la Croix was challenging with a lot of elevation. The event unfortunately suffered from very bad weather conditions with rain all day and cold temperatures on top of the many climbs during the event. This resulted in a lot of riders to abandon the race while others had already decided to not take the start.

The last qualifier event of this season which is scheduled to take place on September 25th in Mondorf-les-Bains (LUX) and hosted by former Tour de France podium winner Frank Schleck has been sold out for a while as the Luxemburg government has allowed a limited number of 2000 starters to make sure that the event can be run in a safe way.

The Granfondo Vosges, unique French qualifier in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series with a challenging course in the French mountain region had more than 1000 starters this weekend who had the choice between a long 175 Granfondo as qualifier for all younger men while all women and men over 60 had a shorter 122km mediofondo to qualify for the World Championships. The short Rando wasn’t a qualifier distance.
