Swiss Lea Fuchs and Italian Fabio Cini to rule in Granfondo Suisse

The first edition of Granfondo Suisse with start close to the UCI headquarters and finish on top of Col de la Croix was challenging with a lot of elevation. The event unfortunately suffered from very bad weather conditions with rain all day and cold temperatures on top of the many climbs during the event. This resulted in a lot of riders to abandon the race while others had already decided to not take the start.

Italian Fabio Cini proved to be the strongest in these extreme conditions in an attack with his compatriot Ettore Carlini and Swiss Valentin Darbellay to finally take some advantage on the last climb towards the top of Col de la Croix to finish 38 seconds ahead of Carlini with Darbellay in third at 1:17.

Lea Fuchs successfully defended the colours of the home country by winning the female race with her compatriot Katja Berney in second and Polish Alina Mylka in third.
