Rincon Gomez and Solis Bolanos pedal to glory in first UCI Gran Fondo in Costa Rica

CRC 506 GF of Costa Rica, the first Gran Fondo in the central American country welcomed 702 riders from 7 different countries at the start of the 127km race with start in the capital city to finish along the Pacific Ocean in Puntarenas.

Colombian Diyer Rincon Gomez showed his power in a sprint with 3 beating two Costa Ricans Ricardo Rouillon Villa and Moises Hernandez Amaya in an average speed of 43 km/h. The three riders got away on the climb between km 30 and 40 and finished with 4m22 towards the rest of the field.

Maria Amalia Solis Bolanos had a small gap towards two of her compatriots to win the female race in an average speed 36 km/h. Milena Sanchez Villalobos and Carol Alpizar stood next to her on the second and third podium spot after making a gap on the climb, but Solis Bolanos was strong enough to close it in the final on her own and take the overall female win.
