Slovenia wins most medals, Austria scores most gold

The medals standing after the 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Istocno Sarajevo has been won by Slovenia, a nation who always scores very well in the past UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

The country had a total of 16 medals (5 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze) with an equal split of 8 medals from the time trial and 8 for the road races. If you also take into account the “unofficial” win in the team relay, Slovenia is the best country in these World Championships.

France is second with 13 medals and Italy third with 11 medals.

Austria wins most gold medals, mainly in the older male categories where they have a few very strong participants. The 6 golden medals of Austria are one more than Slovenia, France and Poland who all had 5 gold.

If you count the medals in relation with the number of participants per country, then Japan (1 participation, 1 silver medal) and Australia (4 participations, 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal) do very well!
