The website of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships who take place from 6-10 October in Istocno Sarajevo, the eastern part of the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been launched a few weeks ago.
The city of Brisbane has successfully hosted a second Australian qualifier event in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series this weekend with more than 4000 riders in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series categories and a few thousand extra in the other recreational categories.
The 2021 edition of the Utah Granfondo which is also known under the name Cache Granfondo had 1440 riders from 28 different US states at the start and counted for the second time as UCI qualifier event for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
The Tour de Brisbane is part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series since 2019 and is a first of its kind in Australia with start and finish in the city center featuring 110km of fully closed city roads. With five technical turns, four expressways, three tunnels, two bridges, and one major mountain climb – this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride in the Sunshine State of Queensland.
A total of 1300 have registered for the different distances in the Utah Granfondo in Logan, Cache Valley this weekend for the second US qualifier event in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series this year.
Given the difficult season in which we still see cancellations from qualifier events related to the Covid 19-pandemic and travel restrictions making it difficult for most events to have the same number of participants at the start compared to previous seasons, the UCI has decided to increase the percentage of qualified riders back to 25% instead of 20% which was applied since the 2019 World Championships in Poznan.
