The city of Victoriaville who has hosted the Velo.Victo.Fest qualifier event earlier this month has been awarded to host the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2026.

The Luxemburg qualifier in Mondorf les Bains was already sold out weeks ago with more than 2000 riders attending the challenging race over Luxemburg best cycling routes. The race had moved from its traditional date in May to late September to cope with the covid pandemic and saw a lot of enthousiasts at the start finally being able to race again.

The last qualifier event of the season leading up to the UCI Gran Fondo World championships who take place in two weeks will take place this weekend in Luxemburg.

The first edition of Granfondo Suisse with start close to the UCI headquarters and finish on top of Col de la Croix was challenging with a lot of elevation. The event unfortunately suffered from very bad weather conditions with rain all day and cold temperatures on top of the many climbs during the event. This resulted in a lot of riders to abandon the race while others had already decided to not take the start.

The Granfondo Suisse is the second last chance for riders to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships who take place in three weeks.

The organizers of the Gran Fondo World Championships in Istocno Sarajevo have taken measurements to secure the safety of the riders during their stay and at the event in respect with Covid-19.
