66 Degrés Sud on new challenging courses

The first French qualifier event of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series will start with a time trial tomorrow Thursday and have the granfondo and mediofondo on Saturday on challenging new courses.

1335 riders have pre-registered for the weekend with 148 riders doing the time trial, 869 the granfondo or mediofondo on Saturday and another 318 have signed up for the Cyclotouristique which is not a qualifier event!

The courses have changed for this second edition as part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series with a mountain time trial starting in Collioure for a 12.5km distance and 575m of elevation up the Col des Gascons. It’s a climb in two steps with a 1.5km downhill in the middle.

A day of rest will hopefully recover the legs for the road races with a 164km Granfondo with quite some elevation and a shorter 139km mediofondo which takes most of the climbs of the granfondo but makes a shortcut towards the finish. The road races are now located in Sainte-Marie-la-Mer with start and finish along the beach!
