The 32rd edition of the Neusiedlersee Radmarathon this weekend was again a success as shows the 1900 riders at the start of the granfondo around the Neusiedlersee but especially the 530 riders attending the time trial on Saturday, the biggest one in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series.
The race with a tradition going back to 1982 finished with a 2-men sprint at the end of the 125km race with Jeroen Van Voorden (NED) beating his opponent Marcin Karbowy (POL) after an attack in the last 25km. Ward Mercier (BEL) won the sprint of 12 others 23 seconds later for a very international top 20 of the race.
The female win was for home rider Elisa Winter with a remarkable 11 minutes lead to Annika Artinger (GER) who beated her compatriots Mira Fischer and Svea Ludorff in the sprint to take second place.
In the 26km time trial on Saturday Daniel Szalay (HUN) won with a 10-seconds gap to Jeppe Tolböll (DEN) with Maximilian Kuen (AUT) as third at 12 seconds in an average speed of 44km/h for the winner.
Anna Kofler (AUT) won the female time trial in an average speed of 38.2km/h, 1m10 faster than Annika Artinger (GER) and 1m42 to Magdalena Bernhard (AUT).
