Kos Granfondo showed all the best the island has on offer

The Greek qualifier in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series moved this year to the island of Kos for a time trial on Friday and a Granfondo on Sunday.

245 riders from 19 different nationalities took part in the two events with Varvara Fasoi (GRE) scoring the fastest overall time with 31:16 in the female time trial over 20.65km beating Elisa Rigon (ITA) and Sabrina Twiss (GRE) who were the two fastest of the F45-49 age group.

Fastest male in the time trial was Grzegorz Golonko (POL) in a time of 27:35 winning his M35-39 category. He was only 8 seconds faster than Kyriakos Papastamatakis (GRE) who won the M19-34 while Loukas Katapodis (GRE) took third overall spot 22 seconds later to win his M45-49 age group.

The average speed of both winners was respectively 39.6 and 44.9 km/h.

Polish Dariusz Miroslaw won the Granfondo on Sunday over 114km. He was 10 seconds faster than Kyriakos Papastamatakis (GRE) who beated his compatriot Loukas Katapodis for second place.

Fastest female over the same distance was time trial winner Varvara Fasoi (GRE) who was more than 8 minutes faster than her compatriot Danae Stroubouli while another Greek rider Charoula Moschovi completed the overall female podium winning her F40-44 age group.
