Cheaha Challenge new US qualifier

Jacksonville, Alabama is the venue for the first US qualifier since 2014 in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. The century ride of the Cheaha Challenge over 100 miles will be the qualifying distance this weekend for the Albi World Championships later in August.

The route is an out-and-back road towards Mount Cheaha, the highest point of Alabama and toughest climb of the day. In between two other smaller climbs are also part of the event. On the way back, all these climbs have to be done a second time, resulting in 6 climbs overall. The 2411ft / 734m high mountain is the hardest difficulty for the 776 riders, coming from 26 different US States an another 9 other nationalities. The event has doubled in size compared to last year.
