Before we officially kick off the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Series and begin our journey toward the legendary climbs of Haute Savoie, let’s take one last look at the final medal standings from the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Niseko, Japan.
Australia dominated the field this year! The Aussies not only took home the highest overall medal count with a stunning haul of 17, but they also commanded the top steps of the podium, securing the most Golds (
and the most Silvers (6).
Right on their wheels, the USA put up a fierce fight. Team USA showcased incredible depth across the categories, claiming the most Bronze medals (6) of any nation and finishing a very close second overall with 16 total medals. Poland also delivered a masterclass on the Japanese roads, rounding out the top three with 13 total medals—including the prestigeous team relay.
It is the third time Australia has topped this prestigious medal standing, successfully defending their crown from last year and adding to their historic 2016 win. By dominating the table once again, the Aussies cement their place in a very exclusive club of nations that have claimed this title over the years. They join the elite ranks of the USA (who ruled the standings in 2011, 2012, and 2013), Italy (victorious in 2014, 2018, and 2022), and France (champions in 2017, 2019, and 2024).
