The organising committee of the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships which will be held early August as part of the first combined UCI Cycling World Championships have announced the courses of the different disciplines today.
The host cities of start and finish had been released earlier in March with Perth organising the Granfondo and Mediofondo on Friday august 4th with start from the city centre of Perth to make a 160km Granfondo loop and an 85km Mediofondo loop with respectively 1663m and 777m of elevation to finish back at the same location.
The mediofondo can be considered flat and fast with minor elevation. The Granfondo course has three 5 to 7km climbs spread in the middle section of the course, but the first and last part are totally flat. Strong young riders should be able to do the first and last of the three climbs on the big ring, the middle one has a steep first part and flattens down towards the top.
The time trial will be organised in Dundee on Monday August 7th on a 22.9km back and forth loop on a dual carriage way with only two roundabouts in the first and last part and 89m of elevation, enough to break the rhythm.
