World Championships courses tested and approved on the Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road hosted the annual Amy’s Granfondo 2024, a prestigious event that’s been part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series since its inception in 2011. This year, 4050 riders participated, with 3500 tackling the full 122km granfondo course. The event served as a qualifying race for the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, also to be held on the iconic Great Ocean Road.

Tynan Shannon Claims Overall Victory

In the male category, Tynan Shannon emerged victorious, outsprinting 17 other riders to secure the overall win in just under three hours or an average speed just above 40km/h. Alistair Forsyth and Jordan Villani rounded out the podium in second and third places.

Emma Ochoa Dominates Female Race

In the female race, Emma Ochoa claimed the overall title, finishing 1 minute and 30 seconds ahead of Juliette Haddow, both from the young F19-34 category. Megan Mansfield, competing in the F40-44 category, secured third place overall and winning her category.

Nearly 800 Riders Qualify for World Championships

The Amy’s Granfondo proved to be a successful qualifier for the 2025 World Championships, with almost 800 riders earning their place. The upcoming championships will feature a time trial and a team relay in addition to the road race, taking place in mid-October 2025.
