Racing in Estonia, Germany and Costa Rica this weekend

This upcoming weekend, the UCI Gran Fondo World Series is set to deliver three events across two continents, with all races taking place on Sunday. Thousands of riders from dozens of countries will compete for qualification in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

Estonia’s Tartu Rattaralli is the largest event, drawing 2700 riders from 31 different countries. The new 131km course through southern Estonia is predominantly flat and fast, featuring only a few minor climbs, with the longest being a 900m ascent at an average 3.5% gradient.

In Germany, the 3RIDES Gran Fondo in Aachen expects 1000 riders from an impressive 51 different countries. Participants will tackle a challenging 136km course that heads south into the Eifel region, boasting 2290m of elevation. For older categories, a shorter 82km course is available, serving as the qualifier distance for men over 60 and women over 50.

Finally, the sole Central American event in Costa Rica relocates to Jacó on the Pacific coastline. This race features a 141km course that stretches back and forth to a turning point in Quepos. With just 841m of elevation, it’s considered a relatively flat event following the coastline. A shorter 73km option, starting from the turning point, is the qualifying distance for the older categories.
