The inaugural edition of Granfondo Loutraki, held on the Greek mainland, was warmly received as a welcome addition to the international cycling calendar. With many foreign riders on the start line, the event offered a unique opportunity to combine racing with a holiday on the scenic peninsula.
Despite the international turnout, the top spots in both the men’s and women’s races were claimed by Greek athletes. Panagiotis Chionis secured victory in the men’s granfondo with an impressive lead of 1 minute 41 seconds over his compatriot Sotiris Exarchopoulos. French rider Bertrand Lecoq took third place, outsprinting Alexandros Papageorgiou, while Vasileios Beleris followed closely in fifth.
In the women’s race, Varvara Fasoi proudly upheld Greek colours, winning with an impressive margin of 12 minutes 49 seconds over Danae Stroubouli and 13 minutes 21 seconds over Foteini Chatziioannidou. Italian Susanna Rinaldini and Greek Vivian Sarri completed the top five.
