UCI Granfondo Jordan Dead Sea first event in 2023

After a short winter break without events since November, riders can again take part in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series events worldwide and try to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships who will take place in Scotland in August this year.

The first event taking place in 2023 is a new event at the Dead Sea in Jordan with a three days stage race, featuring a time trial and two granfondos.

On Thursday, all riders can take part in the 19.3km flat time trial with a back and forth loop over the same road towards a turning point halfway. Start and finish is a bit north of the Dead Sea.

The next day, the race starts in front of the Movenpick hotel where all formalities will take place. The 74km course has a flat start, but the first hill will follow quickly as the road climbs in between km 10 and 28 going from an elevation of -300m at the start at the Dead Sea towards a peak of 850m above sea level. The second part of the course is again downhill towards the finish with a final flat 10km.

On Saturday, the 81km course is mainly the reverse course of Friday with a small additional loop.

It’s the first time that the UCI Gran Fondo World Series come to Jordan.
