Maraton Franja, the only Granfondo who is part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series since the very first year, will now re-open the season after a half year without competitions.
The ‘light’ version of the event that took place for the first time in 1982 will only have a limited number of 500 riders per distance at the start.
The 156km long course is challenging with one major climb, but the final is flat and gives the opportunity for sprinters to return to the front. The shorter 100km course as qualifying distance for older age groups has less altitude, but is still tough. Riders from 14 different countries have travelled to Ljubljana to participate.
The event who normally takes place on the second weekend of June will be organized without time trial this year. Next year, it will be back on its traditional date.
