The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and cycling event organiser Golazo are pleased to announce today the addition of six more events to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series calendar in 2021. The circuit will now include 25 events taking place between February and September 2021 across 21 countries and four continents.
The next Granfondo on the calendar, scheduled for 3 October in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina can unfortunately not take place in October.
The Corona virus has unfortunately also made the Amy’s Granfondo organizers decide to postpone their event to next year. The new date is 24th of October 2021.
The 2020 edition of Maraton Franja has been a big success unless its reduced size and strict measurements with happy faces at the start and finish.
Covid-19 has turned the 2020 season into a big nightmare with cancelled events and riders not being able to show their good legs.
Maraton Franja in Slovenia has a very long tradition going back to 1982 when the first edition was held in the capital city of Ljubljana. The 2020 event will be held on the 6th of September and will have a lot of strict measurements in place to guarantee safety in these difficult Corona-times. It will be the first UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifier since the Bathurst Cycling Classic in March.
