In the 20km time trial on Friday, we saw Victoria Collins (GBR) from the 50-54 age group beating a lot of her younger opponents to win in a time of 30:37 and an average speed of 39,2km/h on the flat and fast course along the Aksu stream river. Seniz Pamul (TUR – 19-34) got overall second while Fiona Cockburn (GBR – 50-54) was third, all within 10 seconds of each other.
Sergei Serdiuk (RUS – 35-39) was the overall fastest men beating Eyup Karagobek (TUR – 19-34) by 20 seconds to win a an average speed of 49.3km/h with Danil Konotop (TUR – 19-34) as third.
After a day of rest on Saturday in which riders could enjoy the hospitality and luxury of the Nirvana hotel, the races on Sunday were held on a 98km Granfondo with an option for men over 60 and women over 50 to qualify in a shorter 66km race.
The long race ended in a sprint with 6 won by Gokhan Uzuntas (TUR) from the 35-39 age group in a time of 2h26 and an average speed of 40.21km/h, beating Kirill Krasavin (RUS) and Eyup Kragobek (TUR), both from the youngest age group in the sprint.
First female in that distance was Meredith Byrne (GBR) in an average speed of 37.78km/h. She beated Yulia Polevaya (RUS) by 2m15 with time trial winner Victoria Collins (GBR) as overall third.
The short races were won by Fiona Cockburn (GBR) and Artur Splawski (POL) in the respective age groups qualifying for the World Championships which will take place in Scotland next August.
