Cache Granfondo second US qualifier

Organized for the first time in 2011, the 9th edition of Cache Granfondo will get a significant upgrade as the event will be part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series.

A new time trial has been added as part of the event’s weekend on Friday evening. The 10 miles back-and-forth loop over Highway 89 (Canyon Road) is a beauty with a first upgoing part towards an altitude of 1550ft before heading back to the finish line at an altitude of 1425ft.

The main event on Sunday has several distances with the Century ride (100 miles) as official qualifying distance for all age groups. The event heads towards Idaho where the difficult Deep Creek Road towards an elevation of 5874 feet (13 miles going up but never very steep) is the hardest climb of the day before turning back to Utah to finish in Logan.

1500 riders have registered, making it the fastest growing mass participation event in Utah.
