The event exists since 2004 and has steadily grown to the biggest mass-participation event in New South Wales. It’s the fourth time that the event has UCI status and counts as a qualifier for Worlds.
The time trial on Saturday takes riders up to the summit of Mt Panorama for a short but steep mountain time trial on a 4.2km course. The first three kilometers bring the riders from 700m above sea level to 876m. The last kilometer to the finish is first a bit downhill and then again slightly uphill. 171 riders have signed up for the time trial.
The road races on Sunday start in the city center of Bathurst to go directly up Mt. Panorama for a tough first few kilometers, but the rest of the 100km course is easier on undulating roads with one other 10% climb on the course. 1800 riders have pre-registered.
There is another 50km non-qualifying distance as well as a criterium race as part of the cycling weekend.
