239 riders from 38 different countries will battle for the time trial world titles in Pale

The 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are about to start with a 20.7km time trial in Pale (18km from Sarajevo) for a challenging back and forth loop going slightly up in the first 8km to enter a tunnel and then down to a turning point halfway just after 10km to return back to Pale where the finish is located next to the church.

239 riders from 38 different countries have registered and will battle for the 20 world titles. There is a F70-74 age group for women and a M70-74, M75-79 and even M80-84 age group with 2 riders at the start, all keen on winning the coveted UCI rainbow jersey.

First start is at 1pm with Slovenian Martina Usenicnik, the last rider is former ITT world champion Fabien Secondo from France who will leave the start platform at exactly 4pm. Riders start every 30 seconds.

France and Germany are the most represented country in this time trial with 20 riders, followed by Slovenia (16), Ukraine (12) and USA (12) but also riders from Chile (5), Argentina (1) and Brazil (1) have entered.
