The UCI Gran Fondo World Series is pleased to announce several updates to the 2026 qualifying calendar, including two revised event dates and the addition of a well‑known Italian classic. These changes will provide riders with new opportunities, fresh courses, and an even more exciting lead-up to the 2026 or 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
Granfondo Belgium moves to 29 March with a new course layout
Originally scheduled for 19 April, Granfondo Belgium will now take place on 29 March.
Organizers have also unveiled a completely redesigned course around the scenic Lac de l’Eau d’Heure.
Riders will begin with a 33 km start loop including a wide open climb right after the start, followed by three or four local laps of 22 km, depending on their age group. The route features rolling, undulating terrain with every lap the Petit Poggio, a 700m long climb on the local lap.
UCI Gran Fondo Hainan rescheduled to 18–20 December
To better accommodate international travel and event flow at the end of the year, the UCI Gran Fondo Hainan will move one weekend later, now taking place from 18 to 20 December.
As the final qualifier this year, Hainan once again offers athletes a last chance in 2026 to secure their spot for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. With its warm climate, smooth roads, and festive atmosphere, the event remains a popular long‑distance destination for riders worldwide.
Granfondo Matildica added as first qualifier for the 2027 World Championships
A long‑standing and much-loved event in Italy, Granfondo Matildica returns to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series calendar. Held in Reggio Emilia, the race has built a strong reputation thanks to its historical setting, passionate local support, and high‑quality organization.
This year, GF Matildica will take place on 13 September and will serve as the first qualifier for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. Riders can expect the traditional mix of challenging climbs, rolling countryside, and iconic Emilia‑Romagna scenery.
