Benjamin Le Ny and Mathilde Rodrigues Da Rocha to win inaugural Granfondo La Guadeloupe

The first edition of a UCI Granfondo ever held in the Caribbean took place this weekend on the isle of La Guadeloupe for a 126km course with 2883m of elevation and one major climb.

During that climb, 4 riders made a gap with Le Ny, teammates Caillau and Bernagaud and Damien Urcel.  Bernagaud cracked as first on the climb, followed by Urcel, but it was finally Le Ny who managed to break away and win with a solid 7m57 gap to Cailliau while Bernagaud came back to Urcel to beat him in the sprint for third at 17m14.  The average speed of Le Ny as winner was 38.94 km/h.

Female winner of the race was Mathilde Rodrigues Da Rocha who beated teammates Christel Martinez and Clémence Briche by respectively 5m23 and 11m34 to win in an average speed of 28.42 km/h.
