Two weeks before the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place on the Great Ocean Road (AUS), riders can already qualify for the next World Championships during the Italian autumn qualifier in Varese.
A record number of 3266 riders have signed up for granfondo and with day registrations, the organizers is expecting 3500 riders at the start, a record for the event that keeps on growing.
An additional 250 riders will do the time trial tomorrow on the 22.4km course with an out and back loop to the highest point in Ganna before coming back to the finish at the Varese Ippodromo.
The next day, the 126km granfondo has 2100m of elevation, including six climbs, the last one to come back into town towards the finish line. A shorter 101 km mediofondo course qualifies men over 60 or women over 50 for the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Japan.
