Stewart and Dutton take sprint victories at Tour de Brisbane

The 2026 Tour de Brisbane, delivered a fast and tactical 110 km race on fully closed city roads, finishing spectacularly on the iconic Story Bridge. After a demanding parcours highlighted by the steep ascent of Mount Coot‑tha, both the men’s and women’s races were decided in reduced group sprints.

Men’s race

The men’s Gran Fondo came down to a three‑men sprint after an aggressive race that split the peloton on the early climb. Mitchell Stewart proved fastest at the line, taking victory in 2:36:04, ahead of Joshua Rowe and Ryan Thomas who rode the fastest climb. Over the 110 km distance, Stewart rode an average speed of 42.3 km/h.

Women’s race

The women’s event was equally close with three women sprinting in a large male peloton. Brittany Dutton claimed the win in 2:51:02, finishing a few meters ahead of Shauna Frey, with Bronwyn MacGregor completing the podium. Dutton’s winning ride translated into an average speed of 38.6 km/h.

Time Trial doubles as Oceania Championships

Earlier in the week, on Thursday 9 April, riders lined up in Mount Walker for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series Time Trial qualifier, which also served as the Oceania Continental Championships. The 18.3 km out‑and‑back course rewarded sustained power and aerodynamic efficiency on rolling terrain.

The overall best time was for Raphael Amouroux in an average speed of 45.1km/h, 8 seconds ahead of Matthew Sherwin with Anthony Murfett in third at 28 seconds.

Fastest female in the time trial was Anne Davis from the W60-64 category, beating all younger competitors in an average speed of 40.0 km/h.  Her winning time was 1m14 faster than Anne Elliott, also from the W55-59 category with Toni Deutzmann from the W50-54 in third at almost 2 minutes.
