Chen Hao and Li Si impress in UCI Gran Fondo Hainan

The UCI Gran Fondo World Series in Hainan began with a stunning 110.4 km coastal road race from Lingao to Danzhou, where China’s Chen Hao claimed victory in the men’s field in a sprint with three and Li Si took the top spot among the women after a solo finish, both securing their places for the World Championships alongside other top finishers.

On the second day, the competition shifted to an individual time trial in Danzhou Yangpu, with riders battling strong coastal winds and racing solo against the clock. Xu Zhaoliang of China set a new course record to win the men’s event, while Li Si impressed again by winning the women’s time trial, finishing over a minute ahead of her nearest rival.

The final day featured the demanding Queen Stage in Wuzhishan, with 80.74 km of racing and a challenging 1644 metres of climbing with finish atop the 787-meter-high Atuo Ridge. Chen Hao triumphed once more in the men’s race after a decisive late attack in the last 7km, and Li Si completed her sweep by riding solo to the summit and winning the women’s event, both securing their status as the standout riders of the stage race.

With this final event in 2025, the UCI Gran Fondo World Series takes a short break until Dubai mid February.
