A record-breaking 1337 cyclists have registered for the fourth edition of the South French UCI Gran Fondo Qualifier in Saint Estève this weekend, competing across various disciplines and distances.

This year, the event features a new start and finish location, allowing riders to discover the Perpignan region. The unique 18km time trial in Prats-de-Mollo-la Preste is an out-and-back course culminating at its highest point.

Following a rest day on Friday, Saturday offers two qualifying options: the challenging 149km granfondo with 2442m of elevation for younger categories, and the 113km mediofondo for men over 60 and women over 50.

The main ascent on Saturday is the Col de Roque Jalère, an 11km climb averaging 5.7% to an altitude of 984m.
