Granfondo Belgium joined the UCI Gran Fondo World Series since 2025 and is organized in the Southern vacation town of Lac de l’Eau d’Heure in between the lakes. The course winds its way through the Belgian-French border region.
Course
For its second edition, the course will get a major update with a startloop and three or four local laps. Start is located in Cerfontaine and finish on the borders of the Lake.
Granfondo
The Granfondo course starts in Froidchapelle for a first 33km startloop to be done once before connecting to the 24km local lap that riders need to cover four times for a total distance of 138km and an elevation of 2100m+.
Right after the start in Cerfontaine on the N578, the road soon starts to climb for a 3km climb at 3% average and a peak of 8% over 1km to quickly split up the different start waves.
At the local 24km lap, there is a passage over the Petit Poggio, a 700m climb at 6.3% average and a peak up to 9.3% right at the beginning. This climb needs to be done four times. During the final lap, riders turn left towards the Lac de l’Eau d’Heure dam where they only pass during the finish after a steep 3km climb from Cerfontaine.

Mediofondo
The Mediofondo starts with a small interval behind the granfondo start and will do the same start loop and three local laps.

LAC DE L’EAU D’HEURE
Lac de l’Eau d’Heure is a largest lake region in Belgium composing of 5 articial lakes in the Hainaut province. These lakes were created with a series of dams, resulting in a vast expanse of water and surrounding landscapes.
The area has been developed for outdoor recreation with water sports, hiking and cycling, fishing and an adventure park.
The major attraction of the area is the Plate Taille Dam, offering panoramic views from its skywalk
