Victoriaville (CAN) awarded to organize the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships

The city of Victoriaville who has hosted the Velo.Victo.Fest qualifier event earlier this month has been awarded to host the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2026.

It will be the first World Championships on the American continent after the Covid-cancellation of Vancouver last season.

Victoriaville has 50.000 inhabitants and is located in the French speaking Quebec province, nestled in between the lowlands of the Saint Lawrence river and the foothills of the Appalachian mountains with four major cities nearby : Montreal (160km), Quebec (120km), Sherbrooke (90km) and Trois Rivières (60km). The US border is also only 90km away.

The past edition had a straight 23.7km time trial with minor elevation and granfondo with a 112km and 131km course. With an elevation of respectively 1393m and 1684m, they can be considered as classical courses with some shorter hills halfway and a flat start and finish section.
