After the tragic accident this past Saturday in Luxemburg, the Gran Fondo race was neutralized to give full access to the emergency services. Riders were brought back to the finish line escorted by police and moto marshals.
Most of the qualified riders in the Medio Fondo had finished the race, but for the Gran Fondo riders, the list of qualified riders will be established based on their order at the control carpet installed at the 120th kilometre of the race, a few kilometres before the location of the tragic accident.
Riders passing that carpet in a group whose front rider was within the 25% range will be qualified for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place in August as part of the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland.
