Scherwey and Richardson in time trial, Stegehuis and Blakie in Granfondo

The Tour de Bintan weekend was again very successful with more than 500 riders at the start of the 17km time trial on Friday in very hot weather conditions.

Fastest female out on the course was Lucy Richardson. The Thailand-based Brit recorded a time of 27.35, nine seconds faster than Annemiek Stegehuis while Yann Kai Oh finished in third at 12 seconds. The full female overall podium was from the F35-39 age group.

In the men’s time trial, the overall win was for Pierre-Alain Scherwey (M40-44), just two seconds ahead of Taylor Price (M35-39) and Thomas Thrall (M19-34), all three winners in their respective age group.

The next day, rainshowers were part of the Granfondo for the 140km event on the infamous Bintan’s rolling hills with starts in different intervals for the men’s age groups while all women age groups were combined in one start.

Alan Blakie was the winner of the fastest wave, winning his 35-39 age group while Dutch Annemiek Stegehuis outsprinted Yann Kai Oh in a two-women break 4 minutes ahead of the rest of the field to be the fastest lady of the day.
