With the upcoming UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place in two weeks, the last qualifier event on the Isle of Man has been very successful as lots of riders grabbed the last chance to try and win their ticket to race the first combined UCI World Championships.
The 8th edition of the Granfondo Isle of Man has been sold out and scores a new participants’ record with over 1100 riders and 14 nationalities at the start.
The 6.5 miles time trial on Saturday up the famous motorcycle racing circuit as used by the TT races is challenging. The riders tackle the climb with a first steep part with some switchbacks to end up the windy last section up the mountain.
On Sunday, riders leave from Ramsey’s Mooragh Park for an 85miles course that hosts most of the challenging climbs on the island. Last year’s winner Chris Lawless (Lotto Dstny) is again one of the remarkable guests at the start. See if he can renew his win from last season.
