Samuel Hill and Rebecca Wiasak impressive in Bathurst

With more than 2000 riders competing in the different events of the Bathurst Cycling Classic, the 2019 edition was again a great success. Unless the rainy weather on Sunday, we only saw happy faces at the finish line.

Overall fastest was elite rider Samuel Hill who got away to finish more than half a minute ahead of a large group. Luke Cridland got in second while Angus Calder finished third. The average speed of the winner was 43.4km/h.

Rebecca Wiasak was the overall female winner in a time of 3.01.21 (36.4km/h) to win her age group of F35-39. Jodie Martin who won the F40-44 age group got the second fastest female time while George Whitehouse won the F19-34 to take overall third.

The time trial on the day before was a tough 4km uphill climb towards Mount Panorama. Samuel Hill scored also there a very fast time to finish in 8:24 (29.25 km/h average) to beat Andrew Finlayson (M40-44) by 35 seconds and Angus Calder (M19-34).

The female time trial had Rebecca Wiasak (F35-39) as overall winner in a time of just over 10 minutes (24.44 km/h average). Two ladies from the F45-49 completed the podium with last year’s winner Katie Banerjee as second and Jodie Martin as third.
