La Leggendaria Charly Gaul confirms status

With a 24km time trial on Friday and a 56/141km Granfondo on Sunday, the Italian qualifier event in Trento was again a big success this weekend with more than 2500 riders competing in one of the distances in splendid weather conditions.

Italian Elisa Parracone (F19-34) beated Slovenian world champion Laura Simenc (F19-34) and Italian former World Champion Simone Parente (F45-49) in the female time trial with respectively 18 and 24 seconds in an average speed of 34.45km/h on the tough circuit.

The male time trial was won by Belgian Filip Speybrouck (M40-44) who was 15 seconds faster than Autrian Felix Hermanutz (M19-34) and Italian Igor Zanetti (M40-44). Speybrouck won in an average speed of 39.35km/h

The Granfondo with start on the main square in Trento is really challenging with 4202m of elevation and twice the Montone Climb before they reach the finish. Tommaso Elettrico (M19-34) showed his rainbow jersey by winning three seconds ahead of Oscar Tovar Rivera (M35-39) and Paolo Castelnovo (M35-39) for a complete Italian podium.

Erika Jesenko (F19-34) won the female Granfondo ahead of Manuela Sonzogni (F19-34) and the 2017 World Champion Simona Parente (F45-49) to copy the male Italian podium.

The Mediofondo which is still challenging with 2096m of elevation was won by Italian Sergei Pomoshnikov and Chiara Ciuffini. Stefano Nicoletti (M50-54) was the fastest in the qualifying distance of age categories over 50 while Olga Cappiello (F55-59) was the fastest female of those riders and third female overall.
