Krainer and Alton secure victories in successful Tour de Brisbane

The 2025 Tour de Brisbane offered an updated course for the final qualifier event in Australia for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road later in October. 3113 riders had signed up for the 120km qualifier distance.

The major climb of the day, Mount Coot-Tha was now scheduled after 75km with its top 40km before the finish, followed by a long flat part towards the finish.

A group of 12 finally entered the final from which Franz Taruia Krainer appeared to be the fastest in downtown Brisbane beating his compatriots Kester McQueen and Benjamin Quinn.

First female was Imogen Alton, finishing 2m30 ahead of a group of 5 women sprinting for second with Pip Hill beating Elle De Nooyer to take the two remaining spots on the overall female podium.
