The Italian Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine, held just two days before the prestigious WorldTour event, shattered its previous participation record with nearly 3000 riders.
In the men’s granfondo, Mattia Gaffuri took the overall win, securing a 1-minute and 19-second lead over fellow Italian Giovanni Loiscio. Jordy Vermeulen from the Netherlands completed the podium in third place. The top three finishers, all from the 19-34 age group, crossed the finish line solo.
In the women’s granfondo, Francesca Tommasi outsprinted Roberto Bussone to claim the top spot. Giulia Medri rounded out the women’s podium, beating Vanessa Santeliz for third spot.
The mediofondo, a qualifying event for older age groups, was won by Antonio Capo and Luisa Isonni in the respective categories battling for qualification.
The time trial event on Saturday featured international podiums. Dennis Biederer from Germany secured the overall win, while Laura Tibitanzl dominated the women’s category.
