Forrest Grape Ride under bright sun

The only qualifier event in New Zealand last week attracted more than 1000 riders under a bright sun for the second edition of their UCI qualifier.

Numbers went down compared to last year as the main road between Christchurch and Blenheim wasn’t reopened after an earthquake and riders had to make a big detour to get it to the venue.

Overall fastest male was Stuart Holder from Auckland, finishing the 101km loop in 2h34, three minutes ahead of Logan Mort and David Munro. The average speed of the winner was 39.3 km/h.

Fastest female was Alice Chaplin, again from Auckland who finished in a time of 2h42. Her nearest opponent Jojo Bauer got in second more than three minutes later while Carol McCallum got it to the third overall podium position. Alice completed the race in an average speed of 37.4km/h.
