800 riders joined the time trial on Saturday with Liz Powell (F40-44) scoring the overall fastest female time beating Faye Faber (F35-39) with almost a minute while Lynn Hamel (F19-34) in third at 1:07. The average speed of Powell was 40.6km/h
The overall fastest male in the time trial was Stuart Travis (M19-34) winning with an average speed of 46.6km/h. Matthew Smith (M40-44) and George Evans (M19-34) were the other two completing the overall male podium.
The UCI Gran Fondo race started in different waves with race waves in front, followed by sportive waves, all keen on qualifying for the World Championships.
The fastest wave was the M40-44, won by Alexander Alonso in a big bunch sprint of more than 50 riders before Belgian Tom Van Loon and Dean Corney.
Fastest female in a combined separate wave was Kirsty Mcseveney (F35-39) winning also in a 20 riders’ sprint before Laura Lacey (F19-34) and Katarzyna Madej (f19-34).
Next year, the Tour of Cambridgeshire has announced to include a 100-mile century ride as part of the event and qualifier.
