The 2026 edition of 66Degrés Sud – La Cyclo opened with a time trial on Thursday before continuing on Saturday with the traditional granfondo and mediofondo.
Thursday: Time Trial Sets the Tone
The event got underway with a 23 km individual time trial on Thursday, run over an undulating course that quickly created time gaps.
Spain’s Luis Borras Frau took the overall victory with an impressive time of 33 minutes 23 seconds, finishing 40 seconds ahead of Florian Auberger (FRA) and one minute faster than Auguste Castellan (FRA). Borras Frau’s finished in an average speed of 41.34 km/h.
In the women’s race, Hayley Simmonds (GBR) claimed the win in 41 minutes 01 second, corresponding to an average speed of 33.64 km/h. She held off granfondo world champion Gwenaelle Legendre (FRA) by just five seconds, with Amber Hakstege (NED) finishing third at 1 minute 42 seconds.
Saturday: Granfondo Decided by Clear Gaps
Saturday saw the main challenges of the weekend, with the 186 km granfondo drawing strong international fields. The older categories battled for qualification over a 138km mediofondo distance.
In the men’s race, Célestin Guillon (FRA) delivered a dominant performance to win with a five‑minute advantage over Aaron Van der Beken (BEL). Damien Degot (FRA) completed the podium, crossing the line at more than ten minutes from the winner.
The women’s race was marked by a strong solo effort from Gwenaelle Legendre (FRA). Wearing the rainbow jersey of granfondo world champion, she rode away to secure victory with a 6 minutes 32 seconds margin over Spain’s Amaia Urkidi. Gaelle Bouqinet (FRA) finished third to complete the overall female podium.
