A record of 3374 riders at the Schleck Granfondo

The 8th edition of the biggest cycling event in Luxemburg on the training routes of former Tour de France riders Frank and Andy Schleck takes place tomorrow.

The 162km race starting from Mondorf-les-Bains is buildon the eastern part of the country, following the Moselle river in the beginning but also crossing the Mullerthal Region, Luxemburg’s Little Switzerland.  Total elevation is 2200m as qualifier distance for all men 19-64.

All women and the men over 65 have the same start and finish, but make a shortcut after 47km for a total distance of 90km and 1100m of elevation.

A yearly tradition is the invitation of a former topstar to take part in the event.  We already saw Cadel Evans, Richard Virenque and Bernard Hinault at the start and the honour for this year is for former World Champion Johan Museeuw.
