The 7th edition of the granfondo Tre Valli Varesine linked to one of the oldest World Tour races in the calendar took place this weekend in Varese in between the beautiful lakes and valleys surrounding the city in northern Italy.
The time trial on Saturday was on the course of the 2018 World Championships with a 22km back-and-forth loop. Time trial World Champion Michele Paonne (LIE) scored the fastest overall time in 27m54, 44 seconds faster than Tommaso Donei (ITA). Vincent Bonora (FRA) got overall third at 56 seconds.
The female time trial win was for Carola Skarabela (GER) with a 9 seconds gap to Alina Mylka (POL) and 15 seconds to Kerstin Brachtendorf (GER) as third for very international time trial podiums.
In the granfondo on Sunday, M19-34 World Champion Lars Van Coppenolle (BEL) got a 3 seconds gap to Giovanni Loiscio (ITA) with Federico Pozzetto (ITA) as third, all from the youngest category.
In the female granfondo, the overall win was for Roberta Bussone (ITA) of the F40-44 category with a 34 second gap on the line to Maria Elena Palmisano (ITA) and Nele Ohmann (EST) as third at 1m26.
